In this issue, adopting Ritual as our insignia, we wanted to explore a little of what unites or distinguishes us, in a biological ambiguity that transcends us.
Whether out of necessity or through the act of being present, between gestures and words, rituals can be performances that reflect the singularities of each person, in situations of personal intimacy.
Any time or place is, at some point, marked by a ritual — whether as a routine, as a way of being among others or even as a form of connection. That’s why, in different languages, in their innermost intimacy or through a variety of festive events, rituals herald the beginning of cycles and the closing of others.
Whether imbued with superstitions or not, depending on the mood of the moment, they are actions charged with symbolism, embedded in a sequence of behaviours that become part of our day-to-day routines in the ascending spiral of life.
